Avalue lanza el micromódulo ECM-PTL de 3,5" con Intel Core Ultra Serie 3

Avalue Technology has introduced the ECM-PTL, a 3.5-inch micro module built on the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processor. By combining a CPU, GPU and a dedicated NPU on a single SoC, the ECM-PTL is designed to run AI inference workloads directly at the edge without a discrete accelerator, while keeping the board within the compact 3.5-inch form factor used widely in embedded systems.

On-device AI in a 3.5-inch footprint

The headline of the ECM-PTL is its Intel Core Ultra Series 3 SoC. The integrated NPU offloads inference from the CPU and GPU, making the board suited to video analytics, machine vision and other AI tasks that previously required an add-in card. This lets system builders deploy on-device AI in chassis where a full add-in GPU is not practical.

Memory, storage and expansion

The ECM-PTL supports DDR5 SO-DIMM memory running up to 7200 MHz with a maximum capacity of 48 GB. Storage and connectivity are handled through multiple M.2 sockets: an M.2 Key-M slot with PCIe Gen5 for high-speed NVMe storage, an M.2 Key-B slot for 5G, WWAN or GNSS modules, and an M.2 Key-E slot for Wi-Fi. This M.2-based layout keeps wireless and storage expansion modular within the small board area.

Display, networking and I/O

The board drives up to four independent displays via DisplayPort, HDMI, USB Type-C with DisplayPort, and LVDS or eDP, supporting multi-screen HMI and signage walls. Networking is provided by dual Intel 2.5GbE controllers (I226LM/V/IT), and audio uses a Realtek ALC888S codec. The I/O complement includes USB 3.2 and USB 2.0, USB Type-C, COM ports with RS-232/422/485, and GPIO. Power input is a wide 12 V to 24 V DC range, and the board carries TPM 2.0 and a hardware watchdog for security and reliability.

Target applications

Avalue positions the ECM-PTL for edge AI, smart manufacturing, video analytics and surveillance, digital signage, and human-machine interface (HMI) systems.
