What Is a MES?

A Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is the software layer that manages and monitors the transformation of raw materials into finished goods on the factory floor. It sits between your ERP (SAP, Oracle) at the top and your SCADA/PLC control systems at the bottom, receiving production orders from above and real-time machine data from below.
