A DIN rail PC is an industrial computer designed to mount on a standard 35mm DIN rail — the same rail that holds circuit breakers, terminal blocks, and PLCs inside a control cabinet. DIN rail PCs are typically compact (less than 100mm wide), low power, and fanless — they integrate into the panel as naturally as any other rail-mount device.
A Box PC (fanless embedded computer) is a compact industrial computer housed in a rugged aluminium chassis. It mounts to a flat surface (wall, panel backplate, or enclosure) using screws or VESA-pattern holes — not on a DIN rail. Box PCs are generally larger than DIN rail units and offer more I/O and expansion capability.
